Hilux Performance: 2.7 4 Cylinder Petrol Engine with VVT-i

The 2.7-litre 4 cylinder petrol engine with VVT-i is an engine choice designed to help keep running costs down without sacrificing the level of performance you need.

VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) technology provides improved efficiency and performance, without missing out on power – the 2.7-litre 4 cylinder petrol engine delivers a healthy 116kW of power and 240Nm torque.

As well as delivering great performance, we work hard to deliver the reliability that we know is so important in order to keep owners on the job at all times. So this engine uses DIS (Direct Ignition System), VVT-i, long nozzle fuel injectors and long-reach spark plugs. And to keep running costs down long term, it utilises a timing chain, chain tensioner and linkless throttle body to make servicing easier.

The 2.7-litre 4 cylinder petrol engine provides great acceleration at take-off, and gives a smooth response when you’re accelerating to pass another vehicle in the mid to high-speed ranges even if you’re towing equipment or carrying a load.

This workhorse engine is available with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic transmission with gated shift, so you can choose whichever suits you.
